Nisonic AS

Nisonic was incorporated in Norway to commercialise a medical device invented by UCT’s Dr Llewellyn Padayachy and Prof Graham Fieggen in collaboration with SINTEF, an organization that is similar to a science council in Norway.  The device is able to use ultrasound to non-invasively measure inter-cranial pressure by monitoring the patient’s optic nerve sheath in their eye.  This will be useful for paramedics, clinics and hospitals for rapid assessment of elevated pressure on the brain.  The company is currently raising funding for the commercialisation and will make use of the SINTEF IV venture fund as well.
