Innovation Bridge 2017
On September 15th 2017, it will again be time for the Department of Science and Technology’s Innovation Bridge event. The event is seen as South Africa’s premier “Technology Matchmaking and Showcasing Event”. The event is aimed at enabling linkages and networking between South African and international innovators, industry and public and private technology development, and commercialisation funding partners. UCT’s Research Contracts and Innovation (RC&I) will be exhibiting several UCT innovation at Innovation Bridge. Come and meet us there to see our exciting innovations
The Innovation Bridge Technology Matchmaking and Showcasing Event is an initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), aimed at enabling linkages and networking between South African and international innovators, industry and public and private technology development, and commercialisation funding partners. Innovation Bridge 2017 will take place at Gallagher Convention Centre on 15 September 2017.
The event aims to encourage and accelerate the utilisation and commercialisation of new and existing knowledge and technologies that have been developed in publicly funded South African research and technology development institutions.
This focus on publicly funded research and technology development differentiates Innovation Bridge from other innovation and technology conferences and exhibitions.
The 2017 event will be implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) and the National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO).
The event will see 75 exhibitors exhibiting over 170 innovations from across RSA in different sectors. The exhibitors are a mix of higher education institutions, science councils, public enterprises and private industry showcasing the innovative capacity present in RSA.
The event will also see world class speakers discussing a range of relevant and interesting topics:
- “Advancing South Africa’s Inclusive Economic Growth through Innovation: The Role of Government, Business and Society” by Mrs Naledi Pandor, Minister of Science and Technology.
- “Building successful and sustainable innovative technology businesses” by Pavlo Phitidis, CEO, Aurik Business Incubator
- “Is there appetite for local innovative solutions?” by Vusi Thembekwayo, Global Keynote Speaker
Deal-making and business development opportunities will be on offer with national and international investors, entrepreneurs, captains of industry and technology development and commercialisation partners and collaborators in attendance.
