Electronic Lab Notebooks
The eResearch Centre conducted a survey to determine which eLab Notebooks were being used across campus and assessed experiences, functionality and cost. The preferred option was “OneNote”, which is available to the UCT community at no additional cost, as it is included in Microsoft site license.
A workshop was held that comprised two parts: a technical overview of OneNote and its features; and feedback from Prof Stefan Barth’s research group regarding the manner in which they have implemented the solution and their experiences and recommendations.
Copies of the slides are available in the “Resources” section of the Vula site “Electronic Lab Notebooks, as well as the video recording of the workshop. The site can be joined by anyone with access to Vula, so that a community of practice can be created and experience, advice and templates shared.
